About me

`Ano `ai! I am truly humbled to return home and blessed to work with our haumāna, kumu, lima hana, alakaʻi, nā makua, and community as the Poʻo Kula for the Kamehameha Schools Maui. I look forward to collaborating with all of our ʻohana in providing an exceptional educational opportunity for our Native Hawaiian children. As a graduate of Maui High School this island and its people mean so much to me. I was fortunate to attend Maui Community College then the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Physical Education (1998) and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration (2004). Always yearning to learn, I continued my educational journey with the University of Southern California where in 2014, I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Truly an educator at heart, I began my career working with the County of Maui Summer PALS as well as the Department of Education After School A+ programs. My teaching journey began at Hāna High and Elementary School, where I taught health and physical education to students in grades K-12. I then had the privilege to teach physical education at the Kamehameha Schools Maui in the elementary, middle, and high schools. I’ve served as both a Vice Principal (Princess Nahiʻenaʻena Elementary School in Lāhaina) and Principal (Jefferson Elementary School in Waikīkī) with the Department of Education. In 2014 I returned to Kamehameha Schools, this time at the Kapālama Campus as Vice Principal for the class of 2015 and then for the class of 2019. In 2016 I was offered a position as Hope Poʻo Kula (Assistant Head of School) for one year. Aside from my passion for working in the school setting, I am also a member of the Hawaiʻi Air National Guard, as a Staff Sergeant with the 201st Air Operations Group at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. I’ve also served as an enlisted aircrew member (C-17 Loadmaster) with the 204th Airlift Squadron and a Radio Operator with the 292nd Combat Communications Squadron. In my spare time I love to travel, enjoying adventures with my family and friends. I’ve been fortunate to visit over 15 countries and numerous states on the continent. I look forward to new adventures to come both here at home and abroad.
