About me

Greetings fellow island people! My name is Christopher Castagne a.k.a. Ras Cas and I am honored to be a part of the Kamehameha ohana as Chemistry and AP Physics 1 teacher. While I have most recently been in California, where I have taught AP science and math for 5 years, I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. I started my career in Engineering but discovered my passion for youth and education along the way, leaving the Oil industry to become a teacher. (This also gave me more time for music and spending time in nature - two other passions of mine.) I am motivated by a vision of a more equitable, sustainable and peaceful world, and I view a solid appreciation of both science and culture as necessary to achieve this. I also know that as tropical islanders, we have unique experiences and perspectives that, if properly valued, can have powerful positive impacts on our own communities as well as the wider world. No wonder I ended up at KS! I'm excited to be part of this community and I'm ready to share and also learn as much as I can, so feel free to drop in, whether you are in my class or not! One Love
