Second Annual Ua Ao Kaiwi’ula Celebrates Hawaiian Culture and Language through Student Film

July 25, 2019

Kamehameha Schools and Bishop Museum present Ua Ao Kaiwi‘ula on July 27 from 4 to 9 p.m. on the museum’s Great Lawn. This free event will feature the 2018 blockbuster “Aquaman” and a student film festival where families will experience ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi, ‘ike Hawai‘i and nohona Hawai‘i through the sharing of student achievements in film and digital production. All museum exhibits will be open during the event. There will also be a mākeke (market) featuring clothing, jewelry and crafts made in Hawai‘i; cultural and film industry activities, and food for purchase from popular food trucks and vendors. Native Hawaiian actor and 2016 KS Kapālama graduate, Kekoa Kekumano, will make a special appearance during the event. Kekumano plays the 16-year-old Arthur in the movie “Aquaman.”
