Senior girls director Teeya Leʻi and the women of the class of 2018 are looking to repeat their winning ways by connecting with the sweet and delicate, yet strong and powerful Princess Kaʻiulani for whom their mele “Lei No Ka‘iulani”, composed by John Edwards and arranged by Dorothy Gillett, was written. There is #moretothemele than music alone. Mele connects us to our language, to people and place, and to the communities we serve. Through that connection to their identity, greater civic engagement and a growing sense of their kuleana to lead, our haumāna join their generation’s movement to improve themselves, their communities and their lāhui.
