Papa 11 Girls Director Nadia Pagdilao

March 10, 2018

For junior girls song director Nadia Pagdilao, music is an opportunity to perpatuate her culture. She will lead her class in the mele “Uluwehi o Ka‘ala” composed by Kanihomau‘ole and arranged by Bowe Souza, as they share the mysteries of Mt. Kaʻala through their performance. There is #moretothemele than music alone. Mele connects us to our language, to people and place, and to the communities we serve. Through that connection to their identity, greater civic engagement and a growing sense of their kuleana to lead, our haumāna join their generation’s movement to improve themselves, their communities and their lāhui. Watch the 98th annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest on Friday, March 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. on KGMB or online at http://www.ksbe.edu/songcontest.
