You can always connect to home through mele. New sophomore girls song director Huntyr Atkins and her classmates will take you home to Molokaʻi in “Ho‘olehua” written by Clarence Kinney and arranged by Kapalai‘ula de Silva. There is #moretothemele than music alone. Mele connects us to our language, to people and place, and to the communities we serve. Through that connection to their identity, greater civic engagement and a growing sense of their kuleana to lead, our haumāna join their generation’s movement to improve themselves, their communities and their lāhui. Watch the 98th annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest on Friday, March 16 starting at 6:30 p.m. on KGMB or online at http://www.ksbe.edu/songcontest.
