September 9, 2020

KS Cultural Consultant Snowbird Bento – kumu hula of Ka Pā Hula O Ka Lei Lehua – shares her mana‘o on how to maintain health and well-being during the pandemic. Bento joined a hui of kumu hula from across the pae ‘āina in a 30-day Lāhui Kānaka to help stop the spread of COVID-19 among the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community. Lāhui Kānaka is a kapu that began on August 16 with the rising of the Mauli moon and will continue through the next Mauli moon on September 14. The focus during this time is on mauli ola (well-being) and the kumu and their haumāna are committed to modifying their behaviors with actions including staying home, limiting large gatherings and ʻai pono (eating healthy). Listen to the complete interview with Bento on this week’s “Ka Piko Podcast.”
