August 23, 2021

Hālau ʻo Kapikohānaiāmālama (the life source that feeds and nourishes), is KS Maui’s Hawaiian culture-based learning laboratory running over four weeks of summer. Hālau’s goal is to help build the next generation of ‘ōiwi leaders. From Hawaiian ethnobotany to surfing and papa ho‘okele wa‘a, the haumāna in the Summer 2021 lab were exposed to interdisciplinary courses based on the ʻike of their kūpuna – moʻolelo, mele, oli and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. Journey through these summer experiences with the haumāna in this video produced by KSM alum Chelsie Machado KSM'08.
