Nā Wāhine ʻAhumanu, a hui of haumāna wāhine leaders, used a KS Maui campus in-service day to mill poi for every KS preschool student on Maui. Dubbed "Poi for the Pēpē," and inspired by the Poi for the People movement, a project sponsored by KS’ Community and ʻĀina Resiliency Group, these wāhine hope to return kalo to its rightful place as the staple food of kānaka. The goal of this hui is to support, mentor, and provide opportunities for continual growth through a club that is dedicated to learning and enacting leadership practices that are culturally grounded, as well as providing community service aligned to Hawaiian values.
