KS Hawai’i alumna speaks out against cultural appropriation

October 26, 2017

2014 Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi alumna Cashman Aiu is one of six powerful young voices speaking out against cultural appropriation in a video posted by Teen Vogue. The message of the campaign is that culture is not a costume, and as Halloween approaches to think before you unintentionally (or intentionally) offend. She powerfully shares her experience and why something that might be seen as trivial, has a tremendous impact. Culture matters.
