Joy of Teaching Hawaiian Crafts

Kumu from the Hawaiian Crafts Workshop & Sale, which took place in December at The Barn at SALT in Our Kakaʻako, share their manaʻo on the importance of perpetuating traditional art forms by ensuring opportunities are made available for the next generation to learn. Featured artisans include shell bracelet and cord braiding kumu ‘Umi Kai, kapa designer Wesley Sen, ‘ohe kāpala carver Nalu Andrade, and lauhala weaver Cheryl Pukahi.
