Kaihilani Abalos is a student at Leeward Community College (LCC) and works at LCC-Waiʻanae and in the Department of Education as an educational aide. She is pursuing her associate of arts degree in teaching, and participates in INPEACE’s Kūlia and Ka Lama Education Academy, and Hoʻoulu Waiwai programs. At a March Hulikoʻa Kaiāulu speaker event Abalos shared her personal story on the importance of pursuing educational and career aspirations. The Hulikoʻa Kaiāulu Speaker Series is sponsored by KS, INPEACE, the UH Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge and MAʻO Organic Farms. The next speaker event is slated for April 19 at the KS Community Learning Center at Māʻili.
