Royal Grove rededication

September 12, 2013

The KS-owned Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikīkī recently reopened its Royal Grove garden and Helumoa Hale visitor center with a blessing and rededication.  The ceremony was the culmination of a five-month redesign and reconstruction effort that transformed the center into an oasis providing education, history, guest services and authentic Hawaiian entertainment.

Kamehameha Schools funded the $2 million project to honor Hawaiʻi’s aliʻi and its founder, Princess Pauahi. The redevelopment builds upon an earlier $115 million renovation of the center.

Now is a perfect time to rediscover the Royal Hawaiian Center and to experience the renovated spaces. In addition to its 110 shops and restaurants, entertainment such as hula kahiko performances are offered every Saturday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Royal Grove. All guests receive one hour of free validated parking.

KS photographer Michael Young capured the highights of the event.
