College students celebrated the completion of their summer internships with a hōʻike at the KS Kapālama Kaʻiwakīloumoku Hawaiian Cultural Center. KS' Kāpili ʻOihana Internship Program is run by the Career and Post-High Counseling and Guidance Department. Its progam name transes to "build a career."
The 12-week program offers Native Hawaiian college students an opportunity to get hands-on experience working with professionals in their areas of interest. Participating businesses include the Keiki O Ka ʻĀina Family Learning Center and Partners in Development Foundation. Interns also develop 21st century skills, build professional networks, and increase their hiring potential upon graduation. Internships can be part-time or full-time and paid or unpaid.
KS photographer Michal Young captured their recent gathering in the pics below. If your division or campus has pics to share, please send them along with background information and captions to miyoung@ksbe.edu.
