About 500 people attended the October ʻOhana Stargazing event at Our Kakaʻako on ʻĀina Pauahi. The event brought together people of all ages and backgrounds to share in the wonders of the night sky. On the rooftop, guests marveled at the stars through high-quality telescopes and enjoyed goodies from eateries like Middle Eats and Kava Queen. Many got the chance to learn about Hawaiian constellations and listen to esteemed navigators describe their journeys. Inside at The Barn, keiki excitedly built LEGO space shuttles and simulated wayfinding on the Hōkūleʻa through virtual reality goggles.
Partners for this event include Stargazers of Hawaiʻi, ‘Ohana Kilo Hōkū, Kūlaniākea, University of Hawaii Astronomy, Hawaii Lego Users Group, Kānehūnāmoku Voyaging Academy and Ka Mahina Project.
Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
