Midkiff Learning Center celebrates Chinese New Year

February 11, 2016

Kung Hee Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!  The Kapālama campus Midkiff Learning Center staff recently invited a pair of Chinese lions from the Gee Yung Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Association to perform the choy cheng, or traditional Chinese lion-dance blessing for the building. Students and staff were given the traditional red envelopes, lai see, containing a small amount of money to feed the lions. Senior Paige Change is a member of the Chinese lion dancing group and helped to make the event possible.

KS photographer Michael Young was on hand to capture the highlights of the celebratory event.
