There were two “Wa‘a Talks” opportunities on the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama campus in early December, as campus seventh graders and teachers from KS, the Department of Education and Punahou found ways to engage with the Mālama Honua voyage.
On December 3, KS Kapālama seventh graders got the opportunity to learn about the voyage from Hōkūle‘a crew members, in person and via a Google Hangout. The group of seventh graders gathered in the learning center and was also able to watch a video to learn more about the voyage as a whole.
The following week, on December 9, Ka'iwakīloumoku hosted a Wa‘a Talks for educators, as teachers from throughout the state came together to learn how KS teachers are incorporating the voyage into their curriculum.
