Kamehameha Schools was founded by the will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha the Great.

Students, staff, faculty, alumni and honored guests of KS Maui gathered for the special 20th time in the school's history to honor and remember Ke Ali‘i Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Through mele (song), pule (prayer), hula (dance), mo‘olelo (stories) and ho‘okupu (gifts), attendees celebrated the life and legacy of Ke Ali‘i Pauahi. From campus traditions like the ‘aha ki‘i to special presentations marking the milestone anniversary, this Founder's Day was one to remember for the Maui campus.
