The Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i ‘ohana held its annual Service Awards celebration on August 4. The event was themed “Have Hope Be Strong Laugh Loud Live and Play Hard Smile Often In the Moment Dream Big and BE HAPPY.”
The forty awardees included KSH’s Po‘o Kula (Head of School) Dr. Holoua Stender, a 35-year honoree. The awards also recognized a 30-year staffer, three staff members in both the 20-year and 15-year categories, 30 staffers celebrating 10 years of service and two who celebrating five years of service.
New staff members over the past year were welcomed to the KS ‘ohana with oli and mele. Event emcees Admissions Manager Lisanne Kekuewa and high school Principal Lehua Veincent had everyone laughing with big smiles on their faces.
The celebration was highlighted by special appearance by “Sister Mary Clarence” from "Sister Act" fame, who led staffers in a joyous rendition of “Oh Happy Day” with KSH High School Administrative Coordinator Kelly-Jean Grahovac on lead vocals and Elementary Music Teacher Cindy Debus on the piano.
The event was filled with many HAPPY moments as the campus prepares for the upcoming school year. Congratulations to all of the faculty and staff celebrating milestones this year!
