KS Hawaiʻi haumāna shine in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi rock opera PAIʻEA

This year the hōʻike tradition returned at KS Hawaiʻi and it was rockin’! All ke kula kiʻekiʻe haumāna participated in the production of PAIʻEA, a glam rock opera almost entirely in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi that covers the early life, tests, and battles of Kamehameha ʻekahi including his birth, the lifting of pōhaku Naha, and the Battle of Mokuʻōhai.

The stunning visuals and sweeping scenes drew rave reviews during two performances in early March at Koaiʻa gym. More performances are planned in the coming weeks. And then this summer, PAIʻEA will be adapted to a traveling production and will be performed in Scotland. Hoʻomaikaʻi to all these outstanding haumāna!
