High school P.E. and Athletics departments at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama are housed together for the first time in the new three story Koai‘a Building. Previously the departments were in separate facilities at either side of the pool.
The ground level houses the weight and training rooms, the fitness and water treatment rooms and storage. The second level has the boys' and girls' locker rooms with 900 lockers each. The lockers are made of recycled plastic and custom sized to accommodate both P.E. and athletic gear.
The third level houses the department offices and classrooms. The outdoor lanais provide extra gathering, viewing and teaching area alternatives.
