Kīpuni Aloha no Maui vigil offers time to reflect and heal

September 6, 2023

The kāhea to take part in the day-long Kīpuni Aloha no Maui vigil on Friday, September 1 was answered in a big way. More than 1500 people attended the 65+ events held across the pae ʻāina and more than 65,000 people watched live online. Countless more watched on television as it was broadcast statewide by several media outlets.

Leaders from many faiths took part, offering pule and other words of healing. There were sunrise, midday and sunset events on Maui, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island. If you missed the event you can watch it online here. Here are photos taken by KS staffers and other supporters.
