Kamehameha Schools ʻohana rallies around annual Pink for Pauahi effort

October 19, 2023

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s an annual event that is deeply personal for our Kamehameha Schools ‘ohana. On October 16, 1884, the disease claimed the life of our beloved benefactor, Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop. The “Pink for Pauahi” effort is a way to raise money and awareness about breast cancer. These photos capture how haumāna, kumu and ʻĀina Pauahi tenants across the pae ʻāina are showing support for this important cause.

To honor Ke Aliʻi Pauahi and breast cancer awareness month, Papa ‘Ōhi’a Lehua keiki at KS Preschool in Waimea, Hawaiʻi Island made pink flower leis. During center time, they did five laps around the parking lot and chanted “Pauahi Strong” and “Aloha Pauahi”.
