A Kamehameha Scholars program orientation recently took place at the KS Maui campus. The mission of the year-round program is to provide support and guidance to Native Hawaiian high school students to prepare them for admission to post-high institutions.
The orientation included activities at the campus’ Keʻeaumokupāpaʻiaheahe Dining Hall and the Charles Reed Bishop Learning Center. Students also visited Waiola Church in Lahaina and the University of Hawai‘i Maui campus.
The Maui program welcomed 16 freshman, two sophomores, one junior, and one senior for the 2013-2014 school year. The students hail from five Maui County schools: King Kekaulike High School, Baldwin High School, Maui High School, Kihei Charter School and Lahainaluna High School.
High school students who live on Hawaiʻi island, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, and Maui who are not currently enrolled in a KS campus may apply to the program. For more information, visit the Kamehameha Scholars website.
Mahalo to Kamehameha Scholars counselor Sunny Cabello for sharing the following photos from the orientation. If your division or campus has pics to share, please send them along with background information and captions to Michael Young at miyoung@ksbe.edu.
