Kaʻiwakīloumoku’s anniversary – Lā piha makahiki he 10!

October 26, 2022

After years of planning, perseverance, and dedication, Myron “Pinky” Thompson’s dream for a gathering place of cultural learning and healing, inspired by a connection across Moananuiākea, became a reality on September 26, 2012 with the opening of the Kaʻiwakīloumoku Hawaiian Cultural Center. Over the past decade Kaʻiwakīloumoku has welcomed thousands of keiki, kumu, mākua, and kupuna, not only from our own lāhui Hawaiʻi but from around Moananuiākea. Members of the community and KS ‘ohana gathered on the 10th anniversary of the center’s opening to celebrate this wonderful place and Uncle Pinky’s incredible vision. Mahalo to KS Senior Multimedia Specialist Jacob Chinn for capturing these special memories.
