Hōkūleʻa Homecoming

Kamehameha Schools leadership and staff helped to welcome Hōkūleʻa back to Hawaiʻi on Saturday, June 17, after the completions of the Mālama Honua voyage, a three-year voyage that took Hōkūleʻa and its crew around the world. In all, Hōkūleʻa and sister canoe Hikianalia covered a combined 60,000 nautical miles, over 150 ports and 23 countries and territories worldwide. Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia were escorted into the bay by Magic Island by Nāmāhoe (Kauaʻi), Moʻokiha (Maui), Makaliʻi (Hawaiʻi Island), Hawaiʻiloa (Oʻahu), Okeanos (Marshall Islands) and Faʻafaite (Tahiti), during the arrival ceremony that started at 7 a.m.
