Hawaiian immersion school students say mahalo

July 15, 2015

More than 200 Hawaiian language immersion school students stopped by Kamehameha Schools’ Kakaʻako headquarters recently to mahalo the trust for its more than 20 years of summer school support. The keiki shared their gratitude through mele and hula.

KS has supported the Kula Kaiapuni Kauwela ʻO Ānuenue summer school program for more than 20 years enabling the public charter school to expand its programs to 11 schools throughout the state. The support covers operational costs including bus transportation, school supplies, and salaries for lead teachers.

The “La Mahalo” event culminated with the keiki presenting lei and handmade artwork to Kamehameha staffers. The annual visit serves as a vivid reminder to KS employees of the trust’s educational mission.
