On March 17 and 18, hundreds of people gathered to take part in the 22nd annual tribute to Ka Lani Kauikeaouli, Kamehameha III. The celebration began with a hoʻokupu ceremony hosted by the Daughters of Hawaiʻi. Oli, hula and lei pūolo were offered as hoʻokupu by the KS Hawaiʻi Island staff. Other festivities included Hawaiian cultural workshops, a craft fair, and a free evening concert featuring Kuana Torres Kahele, The Lim Family, Grayden Haʻi-Kelly, and Hālau Kaʻeaikahelelani.
Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
