A hardworking group of eco-conscious legislators and other volunteers recently rolled up their sleeves to take part in the Going Green event in Mōʻiliʻili. The annual effort involves mobilizing teams of volunteers to gather recyclable furniture and fixtures from state agencies and area residents and sell the recyclable scrap metal. The proceeds from the sale go toward community events and organizations including the Mōʻiliʻili Community Center.
As a neighbor and landowner in Mōʻiliʻili, Kamehameha Schools partners with the district’s residents and businesses throughout the year via various community events to help create a more vibrant neighborhood. KS was well-represented at the event by Senior Real Estate Analyst Constanza Asfura-Heim, Land Assets Division Operations Manager Joey Char and Commercial Real Estate Development Manager Sharon Gi and KS truck driver Greg Paik!
The 11th annual Going Green event was originally created by City Councilwoman, Anne Kobayashi and State Representative Isaac Choy.
