Charles Reed Bishop, husband to Princess Pauahi and executor of her will to create the Kamehameha Schools, was honored and remembered by the elementary and middle school students at the KS Kapālama campus.
The separate assemblies featured songs, scripture readings by students and speeches by KS trustees, Janeen-Ann Olds, Lance Wilhelm and Corbett Kalama. Each trustee drew lessons from Mr. Bishop's life and encouraged the students to follow in his footsteps.
Later, KS Kapālama eighth graders joined students representatives from Punahou School, St. Andrew's Priory School, and Mid-Pacific Institute at Mauna ʻAla to honor the memory of Mr. Bishop at his final resting place.
Representatives from the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, the Hawaiian royal societies, the aliʻi trusts, the business community and other organizations that benefited from Mr. Bishop's aloha and generosity also expressed their appreciation for his kindness and generosity.
KS photographer Michael Young captured the highlights of the day in the photos below If your division or campus has pics to share, please send them along with background information and captions to ksonline@ksbe.edu.
