Over 300 Community-Based Early Childhood Education Division (CBECE) staffers from across the state gathered in Honolulu recently to honor KS founder Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop and their Service Awards colleagues.
The staff visited Mauna ʻAla – Princess Pauahi’s final resting place – to give thanks and pay tribute to her. They then regrouped at the Kaʻiwakīloumoku Hawaiian Cultural Center at KS Kapālama to renew relationships and honor their Service Awards colleagues celebrating five- to 35-year milestones.
CBECE educates over 1,500 keiki at 30 preschool sites statewide. Since the division’s inception over 30 years ago, KS preschools have provided more than 20,000 keiki with their first school experience.
KS photographer Michael Young was on hand to take photos of the gatherings. If your division or campus has pics to share, please send them along with background information and captions to Michael Young at miyoung@ksbe.edu.
