The KS Kapālama High School Performing Arts Department and the drama club – Keaka Kamehameha – recently brought the Tony Award-winning hit musical “In The Heights” to the campus’ Princess Ruth Keʻelikōlani Auditorium. The show thrilled audiences with its compelling story, show-stopping singing and dynamic dancing.
In his director’s notes in the play’s printed program, drama teacher Patrick Fujiloka writes, “The thing that immediately struck me was how similar the story and lives of the characters are to what we experience here in Hawaiʻi today. People are searching for a place to call home and are trying to answer the question ‘Where do I fit in?’”
KS photographer Michael Young was on hand to capture the highlights of the dynamic musical.
Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
