2016 Charles Reed Bishop Founder’s Day Celebration

Charles Reed Bishop, husband of Princess Pauahi and co-founder of Kamehameha Schools, was remembered and honored by the students and staff of the Kapālama campus elementary and middle schools on January 25, marking the 194th anniversary of his birth. Separate programs were held at Keʻeaumoku and Keawe Gyms and also at the Royal Mausoleum at Mauna ʻAla.

Bishop is recognized as being one of Hawaiʻi’s greatest benefactors and was responsible for the creation and support of Kamehameha Schools, Punahou School, Mid-Pacific Institute and The St. Andrew’s Schools. His trust also benefits the Bishop Museum, Lunalilo Home, Central Union Church, Kawaiahaʻo Church and Kaumakapili Church.
