Seniors from the Maui and Hawaiʻi campuses journeyed to Oʻahu to visit Mauna Ala, the final resting place of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the founder of the Kamehameha Schools. In a moving ceremony before the tomb of the Kamehamehas, the seniors prayed, sang traditional songs, and recited their ‘Statement of Appreciation.’
Following the ceremony the Hawai’i and Maui seniors joined their Kapālama Campus fellow seniors for a tri-campus ceremony and lunch at Kaʻiwakīloumoku, the campus Hawaiian Cultural Center. The combined group then traveled to Kawaiahaʻo Church for a final ceremony in the historic venue where Hawai’i kings and queens worshipped.
The annual Tri-Campus Senior Gathering brought together three campuses for a meaningful day where the beneficiaries of Princess Pauahi’s vision had the opportunity to reflect upon her generosity and to think about how they may live their lives in such a way to make her proud.
