Kamehameha Schools was founded by the will of Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha the Great.

More than 300 Kamehameha Schools preschool staffers from across the state recently gathered at the KS Kapālama campus for a convocation to celebrate the beginning of a new school year.
The group first gathered at the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Memorial Chapel to pay their respects to Princess Pauahi and to receive uplifting messages from Director of Preschools Terry Kelly and KSK Kahu Kordell Kekoa.
From there, they walked over to the Kaʻiwakīloumoku Hawaiian Cultural Center to learn about changes in KS’ organizational structure and a new tool to help preschoolers learn about ancient Hawaiian life in an ahupuaʻa.
KS Photographer Michael Young was on hand to capture the highlights of the event.
