KS’ Kūlia I Ka Pono summer program reinforces the importance of cultural identity and a sense of belonging to the Hawaiian community among students entering grades nine or 10. The one-week program is aimed at students not enrolled in KS K-12 programs.
The Oʻahu program recently introduced the students to freshwater and coastal environments where they learned about native and invasive species of plants and animals.
KS’ Hawaiian Culture Based Education Department currently sponsors Kūlia I Ka Pono programs in Koʻolauloa, Oʻahu; Hāna, Maui; Kona, Hawaiʻi; and East Hawaiʻi.
