The annual Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Convocation was held in Kekūhaupiʻo Gym on August 16 celebrating this year's spiritual theme, Ke Ola Hou – The New Life. Po'o Kula Earl Kim welcomed the students and staff to a new school year and introduced guest speaker Dee Jay Mailer, KS chief executive officer.
Mailer shared with students the excitement that a new school year can bring then told them how her Kamehameha education prepared her for life and a career that has taken many interesting turns. Following her manaʻo, the annual torch relay had the student body up and cheering as students from the upper grades passed the torch down to their younger siblings until the kindergarten students carried the torch across the finish line.
