KS volunteers turned out in force on Friday to finish the float in time for Saturday morning's Aloha Festivals Floral Parade through Waikīkī. The theme of the KS float is Ku‘u Home, Kulāiwi Aloha: My Beloved Native Home. A beautiful design, attention to detail and teamwork brought this 125th Anniversary project to a successful end as the float ultimately won the Grand Sweepstakes Award for the best float.
The KS parade unit included KS chief executive officer Dee Jay Mailer, KS trustees, alumni, the Warrior Marching Band, the middle school hula hālau and the drill team.
The float is now parked near the front entrance to the KS Kapālama campus.

Its mission completed, the float now resides at the front entrance to the Kapalama Campus.
All the float decorations were made from scratch.
The birds, plants and sea creatures were carved from styrofoam blocks.
Individual leaves were pasted onto the side of the canoe to give it texture. Time consuming but beautiful.
