Windward Mall Hosts The Salvation Army’s 3rd Annual Back-to-School Drive, Collecting School Supplies

Windward Mall is pleased to partner with The Salvation Army to host its 3rd Annual Back-to-School Drive on Saturday, July 17. The Salvation Army van will be parked in the Macy’s parking lot of Windward Mall (near Leonard’s Malasadas) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community is invited to drive up and drop off school supply donations to benefit students in the windward community.

WHAT:  The Salvation Army’s 3rd Annual Back-to-School Drive

WHEN:  Saturday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE:  Windward Mall, Macy’s parking lot

“We’re so grateful for the continued partnership with the Salvation Army and Windward Mall is honored to host the Back-to-School drive to help the keiki in our community for the past three years,” said Cesar Topacio, vice president senior general manager of Windward Mall. “This nonprofit works so hard and keeps all donated items in our windward community.”

Suggested donations include: pencil box, pencil pouch, colored pencils, crayons, No. 2 pencils, pencil sharpener, highlighters, ballpoint pens, washable markers, gluesticks, erasers, blunt-tipped scissors, plastic folders, wide-ruled notebooks and pads, tissues, backpacks, assorted construction paper, lunchbox / lunchbag, 12-inch rulers, index cards, subject dividers, three-ring binder, three-hole-punch, loose-leaf paper or spiral notebooks, graph paper, protractor, graphing calculator, combination lock and post-its.

“It’s vital for our schools to have the resources needed to educate our keiki. These supplies will help support our learners and their bright future as leaders,” said Gary Evora, Kamehameha Schools commercial real estate senior asset manager.

“It’s wonderful to partner with the Windward Mall team again for our Back-to-School Drive,” said Lt. Victoria Mercer, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army’s Kāne‘ohe Corps. “We’re also humbled to see so many members of the Windward community step up to each year to provide back-to-school supplies to help keiki and families in need as they prepare for the new school year. We look forward to seeing many of our friends again near Leonard’s Malasadas!”
