Windward Mall is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year one of its tenants won a gold award. The management team submitted Storybook Station in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Visual Victories category. ICSC’s Visual Victories Awards program is a visual merchandising competition specifically created for cart, kiosk, and temporary in-line retailers. The annual competition recognizes the outstanding work done by exceptional visual merchandisers, retailers and specialty leasing agents. Out of the 38 finalists this year, there were 5 gold winners and 11 silver winners. Storybook Station was the only winner from this category in Hawai‘i.
Storybook Station celebrated the grand opening of its first brick-and-mortar space on Saturday, July 3, 2021. The 1,254-square-foot space space is located on the upper level of Windward Mall next to Macy’s. Operator Casey Fortuno brought her dream to life, creating her very own magical venue with events and parties full of magic, fantasy, and imagination. Completely reinventing a former MasterCuts space in only three weeks, Fortuno created an enchanted children’s salon with princess, fairy, unicorn, and mermaid magical makeovers. Guests can select from unique birthday parties with games, crafts, singing, and dancing while customizing their event to create cherished memories. Food can also be ordered from other mall merchants when all-inclusive party packages are booked.
The space has become a sought-after destination for local ‘ohana. Customers line up for fun and excitement, while the world of make-believe comes to life with new magical activities. Parents experience their greatest joys – an ear-to-ear grin lighting up their child’s face. With hard work, creative design, and a little fairy dust, Storybook Station achieved its ultimate ambition by creating a unique location for magical, all-inclusive birthday parties and experiences.
“We are so happy to have been nominated and ecstatic to have won our second gold award,” said Cesar Topacio, vice president, senior general manager of Windward Mall. “Last year Kanileʻa ‘Ukulele won our first gold award for the Center.”
