Our Kakaʻako Welcomes Pet Lovers Back to Bark in the Park

Our Kaka‘ako is bringing back Bark in the Park, a free, family-friendly outdoor event for pet lovers on Saturday, July 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Kaloko‘eli Courtyard in Keawe Retail, located at 444 Keawe St. in front of H Mart. The event’s signature pet workout classes, pet safety education talks, pop-up market, and photo op wall will return, along with new attractions. Plus, the event footprint will extend to The Shops at Keauhou Lane at 502 Keawe St.

“Pets will always have a big place in the heart of the Our Kaka‘ako community, where we have pet-friendly residences, restaurants, and businesses,” said Serge Krivatsy, Kamehameha Schools commercial real estate senior director of planning and development. “We saw just how important our pets are at the first Bark in the Park in January, and with so much positive feedback from everyone who attended, we knew we had to bring this event back. We’re looking forward to getting our pet loving community together again to have fun outdoors and learn about pet wellness and safety.”

Orangetheory Fitness Kaka‘ako will hold pet workout classes where participants and their dogs can navigate an obstacle course together. Spots are limited to 20 per class, so those interested need to sign up online at www.ourkakaako.com/barkinthepark. Additionally, the Honolulu Fire Department will raise awareness about pet fire safety, and the Hawaiian Humane Society will offer personalized dog tags to support their cause. To round off the event, various Our Kaka‘ako restaurants and bars will have Yappy Hour specials.
