KS Kapālama names Robert Hesia as Director of Campus Athletics and Human Performance

HONOLULU (Jan. 21, 2021) – Kamehameha Schools Kapālama (KSK) has named Robert Hesia as Director of Campus Athletics and Human Performance, a new K-12 position dedicated to helping student-athletes discover the range of their athletic performance and foster a sense of well-being, pride and honor that comes with healthy living in all haumāna from elementary through high school.

KSK High School Athletics Director Glennie Adams will continue in her role, which she has held since 2011.

Hesia has served as a classroom teacher and athletic coach for more than 15 years. No stranger to elite-level athletics programs, as the head coach of KSK’s varsity boys and girls wrestling programs, Hesia guided the squads to back-to-back state titles in 2019 and 2020.

Hesia also brings with him years of administrative experience as a vice principal at King Intermediate School and at KSK as a vice principal at both the high and middle school levels. Hesia possesses an impressive background in physical education and human performance, and served as the State Physical Education and Health Specialist for the entire Hawai‘i State Department of Education for three years.

A college athlete at Pacific University (wrestling), Hesia graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a focus on human performance, and a master’s degree in teaching.
