KSC Back to School

KAILUA-KONA-HI-July, 12, 2021 – The start of a new school year can bring about excitement, whether through reconnecting with friends or preparing for a year full of new things to learn. Whether students and teachers are reentering the classroom for the first time, continuing to learn virtually, or have remained in-person throughout the past year, Keauhou Shopping Center is providing the community with many different ways to celebrate the fresh start of a new school year. Through a selection of upcoming events, guests will be able to savor the last moments of summer and prepare for school in style.

“We are excited to prepare kids, families, and educators in the Kailua-Kona community for this coming school year,” said Colene DeMello General Manager at Keauhou Shopping Center “This school year will be especially memorable as many students return to in-person learning, and at Keauhou Shopping Center we want to support guests and offer ways to celebrate the start of an exciting new year in the classroom.”

To help local students and educators prepare for the upcoming year, Keauhou Shopping Center will host a School Supply Drive on Monday, July 12 to Saturday, July 31. Guests are encouraged to drop off a variety of school supply items at participating tenants and drop off bin in the courtyard to benefit the school districts within the community. We are excited to partner with Get Ready Hawaii. "When I was named Executive Director in July of 2017 the first corporate partner I established was Keauhou Shopping Center. The center has been invaluable in supporting our programs and the children we serve, and we are thrilled that as we recover from COVID 19 and begin returning to normal our partnership with Keauhou Shopping Center is stronger than ever and continuing to grow as we all work to serve the children of West Hawaii," said Executive Director Jeff Gourley. Children will also have the opportunity to celebrate going back to school through the KidX Club® Back to School Celebration on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 10 AM-1 PM. The event will feature keiki crafts, yard games, selfie station, face painting, giveaways and more. Get Ready Hawaii will be giving away one free book per child while supplies last.

As teachers transition back into the classroom, Keauhou Shopping Center will show them some love through Teacher Appreciation Pau Hana on Monday, August 30 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Educators can enjoy a teacher-exclusive pau hana, pupus, and sign up for a limited seating free paint-and-sip at Tropics Tap House Kona.

From end of summer celebrations to school year preparations and everything in between, Keauhou Shopping Center’s back to school events are sure to offer a unique and memorable experience for every guest.
