Hands-on learning happens at KS

March 18, 2016

School isn’t just about hitting the books but it’s also about having fun while learning. KS photographer Michael Young recently roamed the Kapālama campus and KS’ Kalihi-Palama Preschool to capture highlights of the hands-on learning.

A shared interest in Robotics brought Kapālama campus middle school and high school students together. The middle schoolers built these robots with the help of their high school mentors.

The occasional robot malfunction is quickly diagnosed and fixed. In competition, the remote-controlled robots move around a course and score points by picking up objects.

First grade students and their families learned how to make their own kites. Here they are putting the finishing touches on, by attaching the tails.

There wasn’t much wind that day so the students had to run to get their kites in the air.
