2017 KS Kapālama May Day

Kapalama Campus enjoyed a festive and traditional Hawaiian Lei Day. Students from elementary to high school celebrated the culture of the islands through song and dance.

Talented high school musicians provided May Day music for the event in Kekūhaupi‘o Gym.




May Day mō‘ī kane Andrew Rezantes and mō‘ī wahine Talya-Nohea Vaughnan-Darval presided over the festivities.




Nā kāne o Hawaiian Ensemble made a grand entrance.




Nā wāhine o Hawaiian Ensemble danced to Kaleo Kua Kapa.




Together the wāhine and kāne performed "Aloha Tahiti."




The mō‘ī wahine performed a graceful solo hula.




And then was joined by the Royal Court.




At the KSK Elementary School May Day Program, sixth graders danced to "He Inoa no Pauahi."




Kindergartners showed how ninjas dance.




First graders performed "Land of 1000 Dances."




Second graders did a sitting hula.




Third graders performed "Pate Pate."




Fourth graders performed "Moananuiakea."




Fifth graders performed a haka.




The Kamehameha Jump Rope Team displayed their skills and tricks.




Everyone joined in singing "Sons of Hawai’i."
