Next week Saturday, the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center will open their 31st annual Young at Art show. Opening ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. on the EHCC Front Lanai and the exhibit will be on display from March 2-29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Here are the talented kula waena artists and the names of their works on display:

  • “Mountain in Night” by Cheyenne Souza, 6th grade
  • “Mondrian” by Cristyn Parong, 7th Grade
  • “ME” by Hulali Carreiro, 7th Grade
  • “Separated” by Ailana Graylin, 8th Grade
  • “A Side of Me” by Grace Merryman, 8th Grade

Souza and Graylin were also awarded an Award of Recognition and Merryman received a Judges Choice award for their work.

Just to be selected for this K-12 island-wide juried art show is a huge accomplishment. It is also a true testament to the work, energy, patience and aloha of our kumu in service to these keiki.

Works from both KS Hawaiʻi elementary and high school artists will also be on display in the show.

For more information on the show, visit www.ehcc.org or call 808-861-5711.
