What to know about Kula Kauwela 2023

Dec. 14, 2022

As we welcome a new year, we wanted to share some information about upcoming registration changes for Kula Kauwela, including a new timeline for when current students will start to register.

Current Kamehameha Hawaiʻi students will utilize their Infinite Campus portal to register for summer school courses. Since it will look a little different than in past years, we want ensure our students and families have adequate time and information to navigate this change. So the registration process will kick-off later than usual and open beginning on 1/17/2023. This additional two week period following the holidays allows us to prepare and provide training tools to make the new process clear and easy to follow so it does not impact a student’s ability to register for available courses.

Currently enrolled students are given the same priority registration and/or seats as they have in the previous years. The 2023 Kauwela catalog of courses is now available on our Kauwela website.

Students who do not attend KS will follow the normal application process, which begins January 3, 2023 via ksbe.edu/apply. Appllications are due by February 15, 2023.

Detailed directions for the summer school course registration process with links to instructions and training material will be sent in early January. We encourage you to read the documents prior to the opening of the registration window.

High school courses are on a staggered registration schedule with current grade 11 students able to register starting 1/17, then grade 10 on 1/23, grade 9 on 1/30, and grade 8 on 2/6. Registration will close on February 15, 2023.

The program dates for Kauwela 2023 are June 15 - July 13, with adjustments for grade 6 due to the Kalihiao program(grade 6 courses will run June 22 - July 13), and for high school students taking online courses (June 15 - August 2).

While KS has a number of wonderful opportunities over the summer, if you choose to participate in Kauwela 2023, we ask that you commit to attending all session dates. If you have other commitments this summer, including family trips, or athletic programs, we humbly ask you to consider other opportunities that best fit your summer schedule and time constraints.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Kula Kauwela office at (808) 982-0033 or kauwela@ksbe.edu.
