Back to School is just a few weeks away! And we need your kōkua! 

Our kula's vaccination rates are being used to determine what kinds of activities  are possible next school year, and what kind of safety protocols need to be retained vs. replaced by vaccinations. Vaccinations give us a path to a return to pre-pandemic school life, including the sports, clubs, field trips, and events where we make the memories we treasure for the rest of our lives.

So it's important to upload your keiki's vaccination card if they have received all required doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and ask you to upload cards as soon as you are able to do so. If you already have, MAHALO NUI LOA! 

Two important notes about uploading your vaccination card to the Mo'omō'ali Olakino Electronic Health Records (EHR) portal:

• Please wait until your keiki has received their 2nd dose before uploading their card. 
• There may be a delay in when the status will change on the EHR. It may not say 'Compliant' or 'Satisfied' until reaching "fully vaccinated" status, which is two weeks following the 2nd dose. So if you have submitted a card, and it was right after the 2nd dose, just anticipate that delay.  
   

STEPS OF HOW TO UPDATE YOUR STUDENT'S VACCINATION STATUS

1. Login to Mo’omō’ali Olakino, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) portal at https://ohana.ksbe.edu and select Medical Clearances.
2. Scroll down to Additional items NOT required for clearance and click on the Update button on the COVID-19 Vaccine line.
3. Under the COVID-19 Vaccination Completion Upload section, click on the green Upload button and find the file with the picture of your keiki's vaccination card or VAMS pdf showing the details of the complete Pfizer series. Make sure all of the information on the card is visible and click 'Looks Good' to upload. 
4. Enter the Vaccination dates that are on the vaccination record, select the Pfizer vaccine, then click Done.
5. You should receive a 'Sucess' box. Mālama Ola will be reviewing all of the details and upon reaching "fully vaccinated" status (two weeks after the 2nd dose) will update the status to 'Compliant' or contact you with any issues.

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

The COVID-19 Response Team has set up a specific KS Employee Vaccination Registry to upload your information, which will provide a clearance email badge. Simply fill out the form and upload your card to be added to the secure registry. 

We encourage all students, ʻohana, faculty, and staff to become fully vaccinated as soon as possible. For ʻohana where keiki are not age-eligible to receive the vaccine, we are encouraging all members of their household to get vaccinated to further reduce the risk and spread of the virus.

Upon reaching "fully vaccinated" status, students will:

• No longer need to complete daily wellness checks - 
  Upon verification of vaccination status, students will receive a vaccination badge email, which can be screenshot, saved, or printed to be shown in place of the normal green happy face email each morning.
• No quarantine for close contacts - 
  Vaccinated students identified as close contact, whether at school or through other school activities, will not need to complete a 10-day quarantine, in alignment with Hawaiʻi and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance.

As more and more of our kula become fully vaccinated, we are able to replace or modify some of the layered safety protocols currently in place, keeping health and safety as our priority and reducing the risk of spread of this virus. We will notify you as modifications are made, in alignment with the latest guidance from the CDC, and in compliance with any state or county mandates.  

Once we have a clear understanding of our vaccination rates, both as a campus and within the larger Kamehameha Schools organization, we will share more information and what your ʻohana can expect in the new school year. 

Vaccinations are regularly available in our community, but we don't know for how long, so be sure to take advantage of these opportunities now before resources are reallocated elsewhere.
