Vaccination, while remaining a personal choice, is another layer of protection for our community and gives us the clearest path to return to normalcy as we reopen in August. We hope that all eligible individuals (ages 12 and up) do take advantage of the availability of vaccinations in our community, so that we can protect each other and return to a number of things that make the school experience fun, including social activities and sports.
For ʻohana where keiki are not age-eligible to receive the vaccine, we are encouraging all members of their household to get vaccinated to further reduce the risk and spread of the virus.
Those students and employees who are fully vaccinated will also be able to update their status and be able to trade-off some of the layered safety protocols in place. That includes:
STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS
Upon completing the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, each student can now upload their vaccination card to the Mo'omō'ali Olakino Electronic Health Records portal.

FOR FACULTY AND STAFF
The COVID-19 Response Team has set up a specific KS Employee Vaccination Registry to upload your information, which will provide a daily clearance email. Simply fill out the form and upload your card to be added to the secure registry.
The information will help us understand the number of vaccinated haumāna and hoa kumu in our learning community, which will also guide our planning of the types and frequency of activities that can take place.
If choosing to not be vaccinated, then a number of those layered protocols we have had in place will still need to be followed and limitations on what we are able to do.
In order to be fully vaccinated by the start of the school year on August 5, students will need to receive their second COVID-19 vaccination by July 22, which means July 1 is the latest date to start the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination process.
If you need kōkua connecting with vaccination opportunities, the County of Hawaiʻi has a vaccination portal with a calendar of community opportunities and vendors on our island offering the vaccine. We will also be hosting our 3rd on-campus vaccination clinic on Saturday, July 10. Email kshawaii@ksbe.edu if you would be interested in participating.
