Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha continues to closely track Tropical Storm Lala as it moves toward Hawaiʻi.

According to the latest update from the National Weather Service (NWS), Lala is forecast to approach Hawaiʻi Island early Saturday before moving south of the Hawaiian Islands later in the weekend. The storm is expected to strengthen, with heavy rainfall potentially beginning on Hawaiʻi Island as early as Friday and heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, mudslides, and storm surge possible across the pae ʻāina through the weekend. A Hurricane Watch is also in effect for Hawaiʻi Island, meaning hurricane conditions are possible within 48 hours.

We will continue to track conditions and follow the guidance of government and emergency officials, with the safety and well-being of our haumāna, ʻohana, staff, and communities as our highest priority. Campuses, preschools, and office sites will communicate any changes to operations directly with their communities.
